Max + Cam | Children's Fairyland Wedding, Oakland, CA

Max and Cam's wedding at Children's Fairyland in Oakland was a magical event, filled with love, laughter, and joy. The couple said their vows in front of their closest family and friends, surrounded by the surreal and whimsical charm of the park's fairy tale-themed attractions.

Max had fond memories of going to Children’s Fairyland as a child, but Cam had never been. Typically, adults aren’t allowed to enter without being accompanied by a child, so the thought of an after-hours wedding really appealed to them both. The couple toured the venue, and the deal was sealed!

“It is both childish (great for the young folks coming to the wedding) and surreal (great for friends coming to the wedding),” Max and Cam said. “It's colorful and sort of wild and it brings its own style and entertainment...We love its mix of childlike wonder and adult psychedelia.”

The ceremony was held in the Teddy Bears Picnic area, a beautiful outdoor setting that was perfect for the occasion. Led by the groom’s aunt, the happy couple participated in a salt ceremony and exchanged heartfelt vows with each other, before including their guests in a “communal vow.” Max and Cam concluded their ceremony with the Jewish tradition of smashing a glass.

Since Max and Cam opted to do all of their family and couple portraits prior to the ceremony, the newlyweds were able to take a quiet moment to themselves, before mingling with their guests at the laid back cocktail hour. A colorful, fun-filled reception followed at the park's Merry Meadow and the Emerald City was transformed into a dance floor, complete with twinkling lights and brightly colored flags.

Guests were invited to explore the park and even take a ride on the iconic Jolly Trolly. The couple danced the night away with their loved ones, before strolling through the weird and wacky park features, and ending the night with a mellow hangout with friends.

Overall, Max and Cam's wedding was a beautiful celebration of love and friendship. It was a joyous occasion that brought together people from all walks of life, and everyone left with memories that they will cherish for a lifetime.

Max and Cam’s advice to couples: “Radical honesty is always a good place to start.”
