Tawny + Mickie | Ashland Springs Hotel Wedding | Ashland, OR
Some love stories feel like they’ve been years in the making—and for Tawny and Mickie, that’s exactly the case. Their journey began in their teenage years through mutual friends, but it wasn’t until 2018 that the stars aligned. Tawny had always carried a little crush on Mickie, and when the opportunity arose, she set her heart on manifesting something more. Fast forward a year later, and Mickie had something up his sleeve that would change everything.
Their engagement story unfolded during their shared birthday dinner (a perk of their birthdays being less than a week apart). Mickie took her to their favorite Italian restaurant, A Cena, nestled in the cozy Portland, OR neighborhood of Sellwood. After a delicious meal and dessert, the two strolled down tree-lined streets dotted with craftsman bungalows. Underneath the soft glow of streetlights, Mickie surprised Tawny by pulling a ring from his pocket. It was intimate, unexpected, and perfectly them.
When it came to planning their wedding, Southern Oregon was the obvious choice. Grants Pass holds a special place in their hearts. since is was the setting of their first date. While researching venues in the area, Tawny stumbled upon Ashland Springs Hotel. One look at the photos, and she was captivated. Mickie was immediately on board, echoing “let’s do it” without hesitation. Though Tawny continued browsing other venues just to be thorough, every time she shared her findings, Mickie would remind her, “What about the hotel? I thought we picked the hotel?”
The couple eventually decided to visit the Ashland Springs Hotel in person, booking a room for the weekend. Upon arrival, they were enchanted. The hotel, built in 1925, radiates an elegant, yet cozy, 1920s glamour. Tawny was ready to toast to the spirits of the past with a sidecar in hand and Glenn Miller playing softly in the background. It felt like stepping into another era, one that welcomed them with open arms.
Their wedding day was a seamless blend of vintage charm and personal touches. They each put so much thought into what they wanted to include, so that there was no doubt about it being THEIR special day. The timeless backdrop of the hotel’s historic architecture created the perfect atmosphere for celebrating love, surrounded by family and friends. Tawny and Mickie’s story reminds us that sometimes, the best things take time, but when the moment is right, everything falls beautifully into place.
